The Geography, Business, Biology, Anthropology, Computer Science, Environmental Science and other programs include GIS in existing courses. Courses range in all aspects of geotechnology from data concerns through modeling and web services to remote sensing to GPS use. Areas of research include grid-based map analysis algorithms and techniques, night imagery, transportation applications, military aircraft combat routing, wildlife habitat modeling, visual exposure analysis, open systems development and application. Additional strengths include Spatial Analysis, Remote Sensing, Geo-Web/Digital Earth, and 3-D visualization

Partnerships - Resources - Technology: We have two dedicated labs (20 seats and 12 seats) with numerous GIS and support software; strong partnership with ESRI; all undergraduate (and most graduate) students have notebook PCs. DU is the Colorado Data Warehouse and uses open source software. Faculty publishes in Remote Sensing, Geography, and GIScience journals in a broad range of systematic areas.
